Empowering Lives Through Custom Accessible Technology

Where families and creators come together to build access through free tools and games.

Our Story

We are Ari, Nancy, and Ben — a brother and sister-in-law caregiving team.

Ben lives with an ultra-rare condition called TUBB4A-related leukodystrophy. As his condition progressed, he became nonverbal and quadriplegic, leaving him with very limited options for interaction. His mind, however, remains sharp and full of life.

When we searched for tools to help Ben, most focused only on basic communication. They were slow to get, costly, and limited in what they offered. Ben wanted more — to play games, browse the internet, watch his favorite shows, and truly connect with the world.

So, we built our own. Using creativity and AI, we designed a custom two-button system that Ben controls with his head. Now he can type, communicate, watch shows and movies on any streaming platform, search YouTube and Google Images, and play custom-built games — all through one simple, accessible hub.

Our journey showed us what's possible when families and technology come together to create tools built not just for basic needs, but for connection and joy.

Mission in Action

We had no background in software development — only a need to give Ben a way to connect with the world. With the help of AI, we learned step by step how to build completely custom tools for him.

Now, with just two buttons, Ben can:

• Watch his favorite shows and movies on any streaming platform

• Search YouTube and Google Images

• Play custom-built games made just for him

• Type and communicate with a predictive keyboard and phrase boards

• Control computer settings

• Ask questions, play music, and get answers through a voice assistant

What started as a solution for Ben has grown into a mission to help others. Families and professionals shouldn't be held back by high costs, long wait times, or one-size-fits-all tools.

We share our software, guides, and games freely so others can create solutions tailored to their own needs. AI can speed up the process, but it's never required — the focus is on giving people access to powerful, affordable tools that make life easier.

Our Why

Ben hasn't been able to speak or play his favorite video games for nearly a decade. Because his condition is progressive, it was incredibly difficult to find a solution that not only worked but truly engaged him. For years, Ben went without access until he moved into NARBE House. With the help of AI, Ari built custom software that gave Ben the ability to enjoy his favorite entertainment independently once again — and as a bonus, it gave him a voice. Our mission is to help more people like Ben and families like ours so they don’t have to live in silence, and to discover new ways to bring greater independence and quality of life.

First Year Funding Goal

To launch the NARBE Foundation and support families like ours, we’re hoping to raise $10,000 to cover our first year of operations. If you believe in what we’re building, any amount you can give would mean the world to us. Everything beyond that initial goal will go directly toward providing tablets to families in need, helping us travel to share this work, hiring developers to improve our programs, and building a stronger community together.
